Ranipur Tiger Reserve in Which District upsc
1 The Ranipur Tiger Reserve is located in the Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh, India. This reserve in Uttar Pradesh is located in Ranipur of Chitrakoot district.
2 It is located at a just 150 km distance from Panna Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh.
3 Located in the Jalaun and Chitrakoot districts of the state ,It covers an area of approximately 250 square kilometers.
4 One can find a variety of flora and fauna in this reserve because of its natural beauty as hills , streams ,and rivers surround this area.This provides a favourable habitat for various species.
5 Earlier , the Ranipur Tiger Reserve was known as Ranipur Wildlife Sanctuary which was established in 1978 to protect the habitat of swamp deer known as Barasingha whic were found in plenty in this area.
6 Soon , bengal tigers inhabited the region. With a view to conserve the bengal tigers a proposal was made to upgrade the sanctuary to tiger reserve in 2018. Hence in the year 2021 ,the government of Uttar Pradesh declared it as a tiger reserve.
7 Situated in the foothills of the Vindhya and Satpura mountain ranges,it serves as a scenic backdrop to the reserve. Dense forests with deep valleys and hilly terrain marks the features surrounding the reserve.
8 Two rivers Betwa and Dhasan flow through the region which gives the habitat its required source of water for the wildlife.
9 The reserve is home to around 25 Bengal tigers ,also leopard population is also found here. Sloth bear are also found here.
10 The Ranipur Tiger Reserve in Bundelkhand region is Uttar Pradesh’s fourth and India’s 53rd tiger reserve.
