Gill’s ascent to the number one spot is a result of his consistent performances, particularly during the series against England in early 2025. In the first ODI in Nagpur, he scored a crucial 87 runs, leading India to a four-wicket victory. He continued his form with scores of 60 and a century (112 runs) in the subsequent matches, contributing significantly to India’s series whitewash over England.
