Suresh Wadkar: A Musical Journey
Born in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, Suresh Wadkar’s journey into music began in his youth. Initially a wrestler, he later became a music teacher in Mumbai. His breakthrough came in 1976 when he won a singing competition, leading to his first playback singing opportunity with the late music director Ravindra Jain in 1977 .
Wadkar’s early hits, such as “Sona Kare jhilmil jhilmil” from Paheli and “Seene Me Jalan” from Gaman, garnered attention and praise from music legends, including Lata Mangeshkar. Over the years, he lent his voice to numerous Hindi and Marathi films, delivering memorable songs in movies like Prem Rog, Henna, Sadma, and Ram Teri Ganga Maili .
