The Ekalavya Award, instituted by the Government of Karnataka, honors outstanding athletes from the state. Over the years, the cash prize associated with this prestigious award has been revised to better recognize and encourage sporting excellence.

Cash Prize

  • 1993: The award was established with a cash prize of ₹1 lakh, accompanied by a bronze statue of Ekalavya and a certificate.
  • 2008: The cash prize was increased to ₹2 lakh to provide greater encouragement to athletes.
  • 2023: In December, the Karnataka government announced a significant enhancement, doubling the cash prize to ₹4 lakh. This move aims to further motivate athletes and acknowledge their dedication and achievements.
