Amangarh Tiger Reserve in Which District upsc
1 Amangarh Tiger Reserve is located in Amangarh in Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh. About 432 km from Lucknow, Amangarh Tiger Reserve is a Tiger Reserve under Project Tiger in India. Grasslands, Wetlands And Dense Forest form the main features of the area. It also Acts As The Buffer Area For Corbett Tiger Reserve ( which means animals could move more freely between these two areas to find food, shelter and opportunities to breed. Corridor also allow for the movement of the animals and therefore avoid inbreeding )
2 It has an area of 95 square km. It is one among the four Tiger Reserves in Uttar Pradesh, the other three are Dudhwa Tiger Reserve, Pilibhit Tiger Reserve and Ranipur Tiger Reserve.
3 Earlier , Amangarh Tiger Reserve was part of the famous Jim Corbett National Park but and after the formation of the state of Uttarakhand Jim Corbett National Park is now in Uttarakhand and Amangarh remained in Uttar Pradesh. The boundaries of Jim Corbett National Park and Amangarh Tiger Reserve are adjacent to each other.
4 In 2012 it was declared a Tiger Reserve. The Asiatic Elephant and Tigers are among the wild animals seen here. The reserve now has 32 tigers along with elephants , deers , sambhar , cheetah ,beer etc and large variety of birds species. Elephants are found in plenty here and some part of the reserve is notified as Elephant Reserve In 2009.
5 Ramganga river flows through this region which gives the region rich habitat for the wildlife. Various attractions are there like wildlife safari , boating , photography etc.
6 One can vist the place by air as Lucknow and Dehradoon airports are near.
