Awards Won by Virat Kohli
In 2013, Virat Kohli was honored with the Arjuna Award by the Government of India in recognition of his outstanding performance in cricket.
In 2017, he received the prestigious Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award in India, acknowledging his contribution to Indian sports.
The year 2018 was a landmark year filled with accolades. He was conferred the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, India’s highest sporting honor, by the Government of India. In the same year, he swept multiple international awards from the International Cricket Council (ICC):
- ICC Cricketer of the Year (Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy) for being the best international cricketer,
- ICC ODI Player of the Year for his exceptional performances in One Day Internationals, and
- ICC Test Player of the Year for his outstanding performances in Test cricket.
Also in 2018, he received the CEAT International Cricketer of the Year award for his overall excellence in international cricket, and the Barmy Army International Player of the Year from England’s Barmy Army, appreciating his contribution to global cricket.
In 2019, he once again claimed the ICC Cricketer of the Year (Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy), cementing his reputation as the world’s best cricketer for the year.
The year 2020 brought long-term recognition as he was named the ICC Male Cricketer of the Decade and the ICC ODI Cricketer of the Decade for his dominance in the 2010–2019 period. That year, he was also honored with the Polly Umrigar Award (multiple times) by the BCCI for being the best international cricketer from India.
In 2021, he was again recognized with the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, which was subsequently renamed as the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna, continuing to honor his legacy as India’s top sporting icon.
